Very well done, on a point close to my heart. Now how do we persuade people to appreciate and use their critical language pool and expand it?

Where to start with discourse analysis of Orwellian language ‘black is white and white is black’ to disorientate and confuse heaving mass of ageing voters*, while the same coded lanaguge is understood by some nefarious actors (* middle aged and older of about 8 mill equates to near 40% of voters and increasing, fewer in urban areas but far more in regions).

We hear the meme of how the (undefined) ‘left’ is anti-semitic, used with Israel-Palestine conflict to describe pro-Palestinian demonstrators on US campuses as ‘anti-semitic’, while RW media blamed not just Biden/Dems, but also Starmer/Labour and Albanese/ALP to ‘wedge’ centrist parties.

Ignores how most Jewish voters in the US are centrist Democratic or left, vs. a significant minority who support the right or GOP which reeks of white Christian nationalism, Islamophobia and anti-semitism (left & right ignored Netanyahu’s relationships with Trump, Putin, Orban et al).

Not unrelated to ‘immigration’, rebranded eugenics movement as environmental and the architect of the modern anti-immigration movement late John ‘passive eugenics’ Tanton (anti-semitic, anti-Catholic & Islamophobic) whose strategy was to get people talking about ‘immigration’ and inflate numbers for RW MSM headlines and talking points.

Too easy, watching UK’s Alastair Campbell and Rory Stewart, both smart people, but playing outside thier lane and the latter opined ‘we must lower net migration’, sound familiar? No explanation which suggests they don;t knwo much about ‘net migration’, dominated by international students and temp workers inc. Australian backpackers)

Exemplifies the ignorance of media and MPs, locally the NOM net OS migration or border movements formula was expanded to 12/16+ month test in 2006 sweeping up far more international students, then spiked the NOM and estimated population from 2007-8 onwards. Immediately followed by Australia’s best demographer Bob ‘I’m not against immigrants, but…’ Birrell (linked to Tanton Network SusPopAus), who described the NOM/temporary students as ‘immigrants’ suggesting permanence and the main driver of population growth; now maybe short medium term, but not long term population, very sensitive about this focus).

Quelle surprise they use ‘jazzed up stats’ and the dodgy methods of their climate science denying friends in Atlas-Koch Network, FoxNews etc. employ. Simply focus on short term noise of NOM border churn, like weather events and avoid long term trend focus on our ageing permanent cohort, like global warming; ditto property prices now vs. long term value (stagnant).

Voila, a wedge to use against the centre left, ‘post 1970s immigrants’ then international students and universities, wink wink.
